The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in the perioperative team, assisting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to ensure safe and effective intraoperative patient care.
Responsibilities include: applying aseptic principles to maintain a sterile environment, demonstrating competency in technical skills, assisting with equipment and supply organization, maintaining safety and legal compliance, performing sterilization and disinfection, and supporting patient positioning and instrument handling.
Qualifications: certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA, and either a Surgical Technology certificate or associate’s degree.
Skills and duties: maintaining sterile techniques, sterilization, room setup, equipment maintenance, and assisting with surgical procedures and room turnover.
