Role Overview: This position involves assisting in surgical or procedural environments under supervision, ensuring a safe operating room by preparing equipment, instruments, and supplies, and maintaining proper functioning of all tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in patient procedure preparation, organizing drapes, dressings, instruments, and solutions for efficiency.
- Ensure surgical instruments and equipment operate correctly during procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic conditions, label and dispatch solutions and medications per policies.
- Participate in specimen handling, correctly identifying and forwarding samples.
- Prepare equipment and supplies, perform procedural counts, and utilize time effectively.
- Attend meetings and in-services, work independently, follow infection control policies, and perform additional duties to ensure customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program.
- Preferred experience includes one year as a Surgical Technician.
- Required certifications include Surgical Technician Certification by recognized boards, Basic Life Support (BLS), and possibly military or public health surgical technology programs.
- Must demonstrate dexterity, knowledge of procedures, and infection control practices.
