Surgical Tech II

Position Overview: Assists surgical teams under supervision by performing specialized technical duties in the operating or procedural environment. Ensures a safe workspace by preparing equipment, maintaining aseptic conditions, and supporting instrumentation during procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in patient procedure preparation, organizing drapes, instruments, and supplies for efficiency.
  • Ensure proper functioning of surgical instruments and equipment during procedures.
  • Maintain strict aseptic protocols, label and dispatch solutions and medications per policy.
  • Participate in specimen management, accurately identifying and forwarding specimens.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies, perform counts, and demonstrate procedural knowledge.
  • Attend meetings, in-services, and follow infection control policies, OSHA, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Work independently, manage time effectively, and perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program.
  • Preferred: One year of surgical technician experience.
  • Certifications required: Surgical Technician certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or the National Center for Competency Testing, or military/public health program certification (only one needed).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
