Role Overview: Performs specialized technical duties in surgical or procedural environments under supervision, assisting the surgical team with equipment, instrumentation, and environment safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in patient procedure preparation, organizing instruments, drapes, and supplies for efficiency.
- Ensure proper functioning of surgical instruments and equipment during procedures.
- Maintain aseptic environment; label and dispatch solutions and medications per policies.
- Demonstrate procedural knowledge, dexterity, and specimen management skills.
- Prepare equipment and supplies, perform counts, and manage time effectively.
- Attend meetings, in-services, and adhere to infection control, OSHA, and regulatory policies.
- Perform additional duties to ensure optimal patient and staff satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED; completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program.
- Preferred: One year of surgical technician experience.
- Certifications required: Surgical Technician Certification by NBSTSA or NCCT, or Military/Public Health Service program (one required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of start.
