Staff Physician

The staff physician role focuses on establishing a community-based, family-centered primary care program aimed at improving access to high-quality services and health outcomes through prevention, health education, and evidence-based chronic disease management.

Key responsibilities include developing personalized care plans, practicing preventative medicine, ensuring equitable patient care, immunizing against communicable diseases, collaborating with healthcare providers, maintaining accurate documentation, and managing a minimum patient panel of 1,500 active patients. The physician will participate in quality assurance, practice development, and adhere to clinical standards and federal guidelines, including productivity metrics.

Reporting to the Director of Family Medicine, the physician may supervise support staff indirectly and precept mid-level providers and students. Performance evaluations focus on productivity, clinical skills, patient rapport, and adherence to policies.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited medical school, completion of a family medicine residency, an active South Carolina medical license, and board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine. Essential skills encompass effective communication, organizational ability, confidentiality, clinical competence, and physical capability to perform duties in a moderate noise environment with exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Minimal travel is required.
