The Language, Speech and Hearing Specialist in the Sacramento City Unified School District evaluates and remediates pupils with oral, language, voice, fluency, and auditory disorders to support their communication development.
Identifies pupils with speech, language, or hearing handicaps through screening and evaluations.
Develops and implements individualized instructional programs in collaboration with staff and families.
Provides direct and indirect services to improve students’ communication skills.
Works cooperatively with teachers, specialists, and paraprofessionals, and plans coordinated interventions.
Maintains records, reports, and progress documentation, and participates in meetings and training.
Supervises and manages resources, promotes positive behavior, and communicates with the school community.
Qualifications include a valid California teaching credential for language and speech, success in related experience, and the ability to serve multiple schools. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, serving only school days plus non-teaching days, with placement on the appropriate salary schedule based on experience and training.
