Sonographer PRN

Role Overview: The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring safe, accurate, and age-appropriate patient care. They independently set up equipment, position patients, and produce high-quality images while adhering to department protocols and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify physician orders, gather patient history, and assess contraindications.
  • Obtain and review ultrasound images, ensuring proper identification and clinical acceptability.
  • Respond to emergencies, assist colleagues, and evaluate patient conditions for physician intervention.
  • Explain procedures to patients, address concerns, and provide pre- and post-procedural care.
  • Maintain equipment, perform quality control, and ensure images are sent to PACS promptly.
  • Assist with departmental operations, including restocking supplies, transporting patients, and maintaining a clean environment.
  • Follow infection control policies and operate imaging equipment safely to minimize radiation dose.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Diagnostic Medical Sonography degree preferred.
  • Registered Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) or ARRT-S certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, prioritize tasks, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
