Overview of the RN Hospice Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides skilled nursing care to terminally ill patients in their homes, following physician prescriptions and nursing standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess patient needs and deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.
• Administer treatments, manage pain, and support patients and families through end-of-life processes.
• Maintain accurate documentation within electronic medical records, ensuring timely updates.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care plans.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program and current licensure in the applicable state.
• CPR certification and valid driver’s license.
• Preferred experience in hospice, long-term care, or dealing with death and bereavement.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and computer skills.
• Self-directed, flexible, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform physical movements such as bending and reaching.
