Respiratory Therapist PRN

Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, including medication administration, ventilator management, airway procedures, and patient assessments, primarily in critical care settings. They deliver comprehensive patient education, collaborate with healthcare teams, and mentor staff and students to ensure quality, safe, and evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient assessments and collaborate on care planning
  • Administer aerosolized medications, manage ventilators, and interpret waveforms
  • Execute airway management procedures such as intubation and tracheostomy care
  • Conduct arterial blood gas sampling and analysis
  • Educate patients, families, and support staff; mentor new employees and students
  • Promote safety, quality improvement, and compliance with policies and protocols

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
  • Valid certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NBRC-RRT
  • 0-2 years of clinical experience with at least 6 months in critical care
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with electronic documentation and healthcare databases
