Respiratory Therapist – Per Diem

Role Overview: Per Diem Respiratory Therapists assess patients’ respiratory needs, develop and implement treatment plans, and perform routine and advanced procedures such as aerosolized medication delivery, oxygen therapy, artificial airway care, and mechanical ventilation management. They communicate effectively with the healthcare team, provide patient and family education, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include intra-hospital patient transport, arterial blood gas sampling, assisting with bronchoscopy and invasive monitoring, and serving as shift coordinator after one year. They also act as preceptors for students and orientees.

Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or GED, completion of a Respiratory Therapy training program, and relevant clinical experience. Candidates should possess strong assessment, communication, and procedural skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment. Flexibility for various shifts, including days, evenings, and nights, is required.

Key Duties: Conduct patient assessments, establish care plans, perform therapeutic modalities, manage ventilators, monitor patient status, assist in procedures, transport patients, and support discharge planning. Adherence to safety standards and documentation protocols is essential.
