Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment, primarily in critical care settings. They perform ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas analysis, and assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures. The role involves educating patients and supporting staff, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring patient safety through adherence to policies and evidence-based practices.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive patient care, including assessments and therapy planning
- Administer aerosolized medications, manage ventilators, and perform airway management
- Educate patients, families, and new staff members
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to optimize care
- Promote a safe environment and high-quality care standards
- Document care accurately and support performance improvement efforts
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
- Certifications: NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, ACLS (required upon hire)
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills
- Ability to establish effective relationships with healthcare professionals
