Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessments in complex clinical situations, primarily in critical care settings. They independently manage ventilators, perform airway procedures, and analyze arterial blood gases, ensuring safe and effective patient treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality patient care through assessments, therapy planning, and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Administer aerosolized medications, manage ventilators, perform intubations, extubations, and airway care.
- Educate patients and support staff, mentor new employees, and participate in staff development activities.
- Contribute to a safe environment by promoting medication safety, accurate documentation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures and pulmonary diagnostics as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associates or Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NBRC-RRT or RCP.
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, assessment, and computer skills.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with healthcare professionals and patients.
