Registered Respiratory Therapist II

The Respiratory Therapist II provides critical care for pediatric patients during transportation, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from sending and receiving facilities.

  • Under medical supervision, delivers individualized, goal-directed patient care using nursing principles, ensuring safety and effective outcomes.
  • Provides leadership to nursing staff, plans and implements medical management, and ensures safe transport of neonates, infants, and children.
  • Performs advanced neonatal skills such as intubation, ventilation, UAC/UVC insertion, and chest needle aspirations.
  • Maintains certifications, licenses, and ongoing education; participates in outreach and quality data collection.
  • Communicates frequently with patients, families, healthcare team members, EMS, and aviation personnel.
  • Works under high stress, sometimes adverse conditions, requiring physical effort and the use of mechanical devices.
  • Requires licensure as a respiratory therapist with at least 5 years of pediatric critical care experience and certifications like BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, plus completion of advanced trauma courses.
  • Must meet physical and mental demands, including lifting, standing, bending, fine motor skills, and working rotating shifts, with the ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
