The Respiratory Therapist II provides critical care for pediatric patients during transportation, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from sending and receiving facilities.
Under medical supervision, delivers individualized, goal-directed patient care using nursing principles, ensuring safety and effective outcomes.
Provides leadership to nursing staff, plans and implements medical management, and ensures safe transport of neonates, infants, and children.
Performs advanced neonatal skills such as intubation, ventilation, UAC/UVC insertion, and chest needle aspirations.
Maintains certifications, licenses, and ongoing education; participates in outreach and quality data collection.
Communicates frequently with patients, families, healthcare team members, EMS, and aviation personnel.
Works under high stress, sometimes adverse conditions, requiring physical effort and the use of mechanical devices.
Requires licensure as a respiratory therapist with at least 5 years of pediatric critical care experience and certifications like BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, plus completion of advanced trauma courses.
Must meet physical and mental demands, including lifting, standing, bending, fine motor skills, and working rotating shifts, with the ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
