Registered Respiratory Therapist II

Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment, primarily in critical care settings. They perform ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas sampling, and pulmonary diagnostics, ensuring safe and quality patient care. The role involves independent decision-making, collaboration with healthcare teams, and mentoring new staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patient-centered care with a focus on biological, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
  • Administer therapies including aerosolized medications, oxygen, and medical gases.
  • Manage ventilators, perform weaning, and interpret waveforms.
  • Educate patients, families, staff, and students to promote understanding and safety.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, electronic order management, and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices.
  • Assist in invasive and non-invasive procedures as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
  • Certification as NBRC-RRT, RCP, BLS, and ACLS required at hire.
  • 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals.
