Role Overview: This position is for an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care to critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and life-sustaining therapies. The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, including intensivists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists, to provide evidence-based care during critical moments.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans. Coordinate care with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure positive outcomes. Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, and document accurately using electronic health records. Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, communicate effectively, delegate tasks, and supervise support staff. Support a culture of safety, quality improvement, and professional excellence.
Qualifications & Skills:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Active, unrestricted NYS RN license. Valid BLS certification; additional unit-specific certifications (ACLS, PALS, Stroke) as required. Excellent clinical judgment, problem-solving, communication skills, and ability to work effectively under pressure. Ability to recognize emergencies, perform basic calculations, and understand healthcare quality measures.
