Position: Sexual Assault Nurse (Per-Diem)
Location: Emergency Department
Pay Range: $37.25 – $57.74/hour, based on experience and expertise
Role Overview:
The Sexual Assault Nurse (SANE) provides compassionate, independent forensic nursing care to adult and adolescent sexual assault survivors. Responsibilities include conducting medical forensic exams, head-to-toe assessments, detailed anogenital examinations, forensic specimen collection, and photographic documentation. The nurse collaborates with emergency staff, law enforcement, victim advocates, and legal teams, ensuring compliance with professional standards and participating in courtroom proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform forensic collection, STI management, and assess vicarious trauma
- Attend peer review meetings and ensure adherence to standards and regulations
- Work closely with hospital staff, law enforcement, and community programs
- Participate in training, documentation, and courtroom testimony as needed
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
- Current Illinois RN licensure
- Certified in AA SANE through the Illinois Attorney General or approved certification
- Experience in forensic nursing preferred
- Computer literacy, including Epic EMR training
