Role Overview:
Provides specialized nursing care in a cardiovascular ICU, working independently to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Collaborates closely with cardiovascular surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive cardiac services. Demonstrates competence in managing complex clinical situations, delegating tasks appropriately, and addressing patients’ psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the nursing process to deliver patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Administers medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring effectiveness and side effects.
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care details accurately.
- Provides education to patients, families, and caregivers, identifying learning needs and resources.
- Adheres to organizational competencies, standards, and scope of practice.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; RN license in the state of employment or a compact license.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred; new graduates considered.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Completion of onboarding, competency validations, and annual training.
- Ability to handle complex patient needs and work collaboratively in a high-acuity environment.
