Role Overview: The Charge Nurse leads daily unit operations, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care on an inpatient Medsurg Oncology unit. They oversee staffing, patient assignments, and resource management, while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, physicians, and leadership to maintain efficient workflow and optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff activities, including patient care delivery, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Perform rounds to evaluate care quality, ensure safety, and address clinical concerns.
- Assign patients considering acuity and staff capabilities, manage patient flow, and collaborate on bed management.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives, support evidence-based practice, and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
- Serve as a resource for staff education, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members, physicians, and management to promote safe, patient-centered care.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Current RN license and certifications including BLS; ACLS preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; 2+ years and relief charge experience preferred.
- Strong clinical expertise, leadership abilities, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate teamwork, and promote a positive work environment.
