Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research radiographic procedures, acquiring and analyzing data for interpretation by licensed practitioners. They independently conduct radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, prepare and administer medications or contrast agents, and ensure radiation safety following federal, state, and institutional policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to ensure patient safety and high-quality imaging.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images for proper positioning and quality, ensure proper data storage and transfer, and perform post-processing if needed.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare team members.
- Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including in non-traditional settings such as operating rooms and ICU.
Qualifications & Skills: Graduate of a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; ARRT-R registry required within 6 months of hire; preferred Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Ability to perform diagnostic procedures, strong attention to safety, and effective communication skills are essential.
Additional Details: New graduates must obtain ARRT-R certification promptly; applicants hired after a certain date must advance to level 2 within 24 months. The role involves working primarily in a clinical environment, ensuring compliance with policies, and supporting departmental needs.
