Role: Mammography Technologists perform breast imaging procedures using ionizing radiation and sound waves for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They independently conduct or assist with mammographic and sonographic breast imaging, ensuring proper patient preparation, accurate data acquisition, and image evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient information, ensure proper identification, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to ensure patient safety.
- Prepare and administer medications or contrast agents as prescribed.
- Evaluate image quality, verify data storage or transfer, and assist with post-processing.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Imaging pathologic breast specimens and performing breast ultrasound procedures.
- Conduct clinical breast examinations and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and demonstrate proficiency in routine and complex duties.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (required).
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of breast imaging procedures, patient care, and radiation safety.
- Ability to educate others and work collaboratively within a team.
