Role Overview: The Staff Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation to a diverse patient population in accordance with physician prescriptions. They operate radiation equipment safely, perform complex procedures, and participate in quality control measures.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver precise therapy and assess patients, adapting care for different age groups.
Document treatments accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Assist and support team members, recognize limitations, and seek help when needed.
Report adverse reactions promptly and educate patients and families on treatment side effects and procedures.
Ensure correct patient setup, simulate treatments, and schedule appointments while communicating changes.
Follow safety protocols, wear radiation badges, and participate in daily warm-up procedures.
Assist with miscellaneous tasks, participate in on-call rotations, and serve as a clinical instructor for students.
Comply with organizational policies, standards, and codes of conduct.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associates degree or equivalent from an accredited program.
- ARRT-T (Radiation Therapy) and BLS certifications required upon hire.
- Minimum of 2 years of radiation therapy experience preferred.
- Ability to treat and simulate patients effectively.
