Role Overview: The Staff Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation in the Radiation Oncology Department, delivering precise therapy according to physician prescriptions. They operate radiation equipment safely, perform complex technical procedures, and participate in quality control monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
Administers treatment, assesses patients, documents in EMR, and educates patients and families on side effects and treatment aids. Performs patient setup, simulates new treatments, schedules patients, and ensures safety protocols are followed, including radiation safety measures and universal precautions. Recognizes limitations, seeks assistance as needed, reports adverse reactions, and participates in on-call rotations. Supports clinical education by evaluating students and providing feedback. Adheres to policies, standards, and conducts, and performs additional assigned tasks.
Qualifications & Skills:
Associates degree or equivalent from an accredited program. ARRT-T Radiation Therapy certification and BLS certification required upon hire. Minimum 2 years of radiation therapy experience preferred. Ability to treat and simulate patients accurately and safely.
