The Attending Psychiatrist for Homeless Services provides outreach-based psychiatric evaluation, treatment, consultation, and system coordination for individuals experiencing homelessness with serious mental illness.
Responsibilities include conducting community outreach, assessing and treating homeless individuals in shelters, on the streets, and Safe Havens, and supporting continuity of care. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, assisting with eligibility determinations for mental health services, and facilitating access to care.
Additionally, the psychiatrist supervises residents, participates in training, and contributes to program development and interagency collaborations. Qualifications include a valid medical license, Board eligibility in Psychiatry, experience with homeless populations, and appropriate certifications. The position offers a competitive salary ($229,528 – $235,000), Monday-Friday hours, with opportunities for academic appointment and supervision, located in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area.
