Role Overview: This position involves providing trauma-informed, patient-centered forensic care to individuals experiencing sexual assault, violence, and related crises across multiple hospitals within a regional health system. The nurse partners with specialized SANE programs to ensure timely, compassionate support, practicing flexibly in diverse clinical environments (excluding children’s hospitals and facilities in Illinois).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver sensitive forensic care, advocating and collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Utilize leadership skills to mentor colleagues and foster a positive work environment.
- Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care using standards of medical-surgical nursing, recognizing and responding to life-threatening conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans considering physical, social, cultural, and spiritual factors.
- Prioritize and coordinate care for patients with varying acuity levels, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Current RN license with 1–2 years of acute care experience.
- Completion of adult 40-hour SANE training required.
- Willingness to travel between hospital facilities and respond to on-call needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills emphasizing empathy, communication, and clinical judgment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and resourceful with a confident nursing practice.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with 2–5 years of experience.
