Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist III provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment, primarily in critical care settings. They handle complex cases, manage ventilators, perform airway procedures, and interpret arterial blood gases, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes. Additionally, they educate patients, families, and staff, serve as preceptors, and actively participate in performance improvement projects to promote evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Perform assessments, verify orders, and administer therapies including aerosolized medications, oxygen, and ventilator management.
- Manage airway procedures such as intubation, extubation, and tracheostomy care.
- Educate patients and support staff development through mentorship and preceptorship.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to policies, documentation standards, and safety protocols.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
- Certifications: RCP, NBRC-RRT, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP (all required upon hire).
- Minimum two years of clinical experience in critical care areas such as ICU, CVICU, BURN, NICU, or Emergency Departments.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, assessment skills, and computer proficiency.
