Role Overview:
The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment in complex clinical situations, primarily in critical care settings. They perform ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas sampling, and collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans. Additionally, they educate patients, families, and staff, contributing to staff development and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care and documentation
- Perform assessments and collaborate on care plans
- Administer medications and manage ventilator support and airway devices
- Educate patients, peers, and new staff members
- Ensure safety and compliance with quality standards and evidence-based practices
- Support performance improvement initiatives and procedural activities
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
- Licenses and certifications: NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Prof, BLS, ACLS (all required upon hire)
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills
- Ability to establish effective relationships with healthcare professionals
