Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment, primarily in critical care settings. They independently manage ventilators, perform airway procedures, and analyze arterial blood gases, ensuring safe and quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient-centered respiratory therapies, including aerosolized medications and oxygen therapy.
- Manage ventilator settings, weaning, and airway interventions such as intubation and tracheostomy care.
- Perform assessments, collaborate with healthcare team members, and educate patients and families.
- Mentor and precept new staff, students, and peers.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, documentation accuracy, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in invasive and non-invasive procedures and pulmonary diagnostics as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
- Certifications: NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, and ACLS are required.
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with a minimum of 6 months in critical care.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and computer skills.
