Physical Therapy Resident – Orthopedics

Role Overview: A Physical Therapy Resident (PTR) participates in a comprehensive postgraduate training program focused on orthopedic physical therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care across diverse diagnoses and age groups, implementing treatment plans and documenting progress.
  • Perform patient evaluations, set goals, and coordinate follow-up care, ensuring adherence to department policies.
  • Supervise rehabilitation technicians, volunteers, and students, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Meet productivity standards by efficiently managing caseloads and documenting services in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to educational activities by sharing knowledge with colleagues and learners.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
  • Enrolled in a PT Doctorate program.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire.
  • Curious, coachable, committed to learning, and interested in orthopedic specialization.

Additional Details: The program offers advanced clinical experience, mentorship, didactic learning, surgical exposure, and preparation for the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) exam. Candidates must complete both the Augusta University residency application and the employment application. The role emphasizes developing expertise, preparing for specialization, and building a rewarding career in orthopedic physical therapy.
