Physical Therapy Resident – Orthopedics

Role Overview: A Physical Therapy Resident (PTR) is a postgraduate trainee expected to complete a twelve-month program, providing direct patient care, participating in mentoring, didactic education, and other learning opportunities. The PTR performs duties similar to licensed physical therapists, managing a diverse caseload across various settings and patient ages.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Treatment: Implement, modify, and document treatment plans; work towards goals; coordinate follow-up care.
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct evaluations, set goals, plan discharges; document findings and share information with relevant team members.
  • Education: Foster a positive learning environment for students, volunteers, and staff; ensure learning objectives are met and provide clinical education opportunities.
  • Productivity: Meet departmental productivity standards; proactively serve patients’ immediate needs; document work efficiently.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy
  • Current BLS certification (Instructor or Provider)
  • Enrollment in a PT Doctorate program
