Role Overview:
The Per Diem Patient Access Representative facilitates patient registration, verification of insurance benefits, and collection of payments in a healthcare setting. They serve as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient data entry and documentation. The role requires professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail to support high-quality, accessible healthcare services.
Responsibilities include:
- Collecting patient demographics and health information via in-person or phone interactions
- Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits
- Responding to patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy
- Performing point-of-service cash collections, including co-pays and deductibles
- Accurately entering data into hospital systems and scanning documents
- Scheduling and organizing patient appointments and referrals
- Registering patients for various medical services and procedures
- Generating and reviewing patient data reports and resolving discrepancies
Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience in hospital registration, medical office, or similar environment
- Customer service experience and knowledge of insurance procedures
- Ability to work flexible shifts within normal business hours
- Preferred: experience with authorization requests, referrals, medical terminology, bilingual in English & Spanish, and familiarity with healthcare systems and billing
