Role Overview: Provides anesthesia care in the operating room to support surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. Responsibilities include preoperative evaluation, intraoperative anesthesia management, and postoperative follow-up, acting as a patient advocate and liaison between patients, families, and medical staff.
Key Duties:
- Anesthetizes patients, selects appropriate drugs, induces and maintains anesthesia, and adjusts medications as needed.
- Monitors patient status, interprets hemodynamic data, and takes corrective actions to ensure stability throughout perioperative phases.
- Performs thorough preoperative assessments, reviews patient charts, and organizes necessary equipment and medications.
- Coordinates with surgical team and ancillary staff to ensure a safe environment, including patient positioning and equipment troubleshooting.
- Responds to emergencies, maintains airway, and provides anesthesia support across assigned areas.
- Documents patient care accurately in electronic medical records and transports patients safely post-procedure.
- Acts as a mentor and preceptor to peers, staff, residents, and students, sharing expertise in anesthesia practice.
Qualifications & Skills: Master’s Degree in Nursing required, with strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills. Experience in anesthesia care and the ability to work effectively in a clinical environment are essential.
