Role Overview:
The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to alleviate pain, restore function, and prevent disability following injury or illness.
Responsibilities include evaluating patients, developing individualized therapy programs involving exercises, manual therapy, heat, water, and electrical modalities, and directing active and passive exercises.
The therapist utilizes diagnostic tests for muscles, nerves, and joints, guides patients in gait and functional training, and instructs on the use of assistive devices.
Initial and re-evaluations are performed to monitor progress, with documentation for team review.
Supervisory duties may include overseeing assistants and aides, as well as training students and staff in therapy techniques.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: A Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) required after a certain date; a Bachelor’s degree or higher is necessary, with specific experience preferred.
Experience: Relevant experience in physical therapy, with details on years and type of experience preferred or required.
Certifications & Licenses: Valid licensure as a Physical Therapist, Basic Life Support (BLS), and specific certifications such as Pelvic Health are required or preferred.
Additional certifications like Pelvic Health are preferred but must be obtained within 90 days.
The candidate must be licensed and certified accordingly.
