Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Role Overview: The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed Physical Therapy to alleviate pain, restore function, evaluate, and prevent disability after disease, injury, or loss of a body part.

Responsibilities include: Planning and executing therapy programs using physical methods such as exercise, massage, manual therapy, heat, water, light, and electricity. Conducting diagnostic and functional tests on muscles, nerves, and joints, and guiding patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, and functional training. Utilizing equipment like ultrasound machines, diathermy, whirlpools, and contrast baths. Managing wound care, instructing on the use of mobility aids, and recording patient progress for team review. May supervise staff and participate in training students or workers in therapy techniques.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy or higher preferred, with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) required after 2015.
  • Experience: Varies in duration and type, with preferred experience in clinical settings.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Valid Physical Therapist license, Basic Life Support (BLS), and other relevant certifications such as pelvic health or specialized licenses are preferred. Certification in Pelvic Health is optional, but required certifications must be obtained within 90 days.

    Additional Requirements: Must obtain required licensure and certifications as specified, with emphasis on required certifications like BLS and licensure to practice as a licensed Physical Therapist.
