Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Role Overview: The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to alleviate pain, improve function, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or amputation.

Key Responsibilities: Conducts initial assessments, develops treatment plans using exercises, manual therapy, heat, water, light, and electrical modalities. Performs diagnostic tests for muscles, nerves, and joints, guides patients through active/passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, and functional training. Operates equipment such as ultrasound and diathermy, administers whirlpools and contrast baths, and treats wound patients as directed. Educates patients on postural control and use of assistive devices, and documents progress for interdisciplinary review. May supervise staff and participate in training students and staff in therapy techniques.

Qualifications & Skills: Requires a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (post-2015), valid Physical Therapist license, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred certifications include Pelvic Health. Must have relevant experience, with specific requirements for licensure and certifications detailed.

Key Requirements: Strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques, ability to evaluate and adapt treatment, effective communication skills, and compliance with licensure and certification standards. *Must obtain specific certifications within 90 days where applicable.
