Role Summary: This position involves organizing and conducting medically prescribed Physical Therapy to alleviate pain, restore function, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss. The therapist plans individualized therapy programs using exercises, manual therapy, heat, water, light, and electrical modalities as prescribed by the physician. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic tests, guiding patients in active and passive exercises, muscle reeducation, gait training, and the use of specialized equipment. The therapist evaluates and records patient progress, supervises support staff, and may participate in training students and staff in physical therapy techniques.
Qualifications & Skills: Must have a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (required after 2015), with a licensed physical therapist credential. Required certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS) and licensure as a physical therapist. Preferred qualifications include certification in pelvic health. Candidates should possess strong diagnostic, manual therapy, and patient education skills.
Key Duties: Conduct initial and re-evaluations, develop treatment plans, utilize therapeutic equipment, treat wound patients, instruct on the use of mobility aids, and maintain detailed patient records. The role may involve supervising assistants and volunteers, and providing training on therapy techniques.
