Role Overview: The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to alleviate pain, restore function, and prevent disability after injury or illness.
Key Responsibilities: Conducts evaluations, develops individualized treatment plans using exercises, manual therapy, and equipment like ultrasound and diathermy; guides patients in active/passive exercises, gait training, and use of assistive devices; performs diagnostic tests on muscles, nerves, and joints; supervises support staff and educates patients and other professionals on therapy techniques.
Qualifications & Skills: Requires a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (post-2015), licensure as a Physical Therapist, and certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS). Preferred certifications include pelvic health. Experience in therapy techniques and patient care is essential.
Key Requirements: Ability to perform initial and re-evaluations, maintain detailed records, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Supervision of aides and training of students may be involved. Certifications must be obtained within 90 days if not already held.
