Occupational Therapist – Pediatrics

Role Overview:

Seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist specialized in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assertive Technology to provide outpatient services. This role involves evaluating and treating pediatric patients, developing individualized treatment plans, and considering discharge needs, functional status, and equipment requirements. The therapist will educate and collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams, making referrals as needed. Delegation to assistants, techs, and students is essential, along with thorough documentation and assessment services.

  • Provide skilled occupational therapy with a focus on AAC and assistive technologies.
  • Establish treatment plans and deliver therapy tailored to patient needs.
  • Educate, collaborate, and communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Delegate interventions appropriately and document all activities per policies.
  • Perform assessments, re-assessments, and consultations for occupational therapy services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy required; Master’s preferred.
  • Valid Occupational Therapist license.
  • Experience in AAC and pediatric therapy is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and delegation skills.

Key Duties:

  • Develop and implement treatment plans considering discharge and equipment needs.
  • Educate and coordinate with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff based on skill levels.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide assessments and consultations.
