Role Overview: The Nuclear Medicine technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring patient safety and quality results. They independently operate equipment, set up imaging studies, and position patients appropriately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adjust techniques for optimal image quality and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and functionality according to infection control policies.
- Verify clinician orders, gather patient history, and assess contraindications.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely, monitor patient condition, and respond to emergencies.
- Ensure proper patient identification, privacy, dignity, and comfort during procedures.
- Organize workflow, follow physician instructions, and utilize critical thinking.
- Communicate clearly with patients and families, explaining procedures to reduce anxiety.
- Complete accurate documentation and participate in departmental training.
- Produce acceptable images, ensure equipment calibration, and transmit studies promptly.
- Assist with patient transport, supplies restocking, and support departmental operations.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and take on additional duties as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associates in Radiologic Technology.
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience; nuclear medicine experience preferred.
- Certifications: ARRT Nuclear Technology or Certified Nuclear Medicine Tech; BLS certification.
- Ability to operate nuclear medicine equipment, demonstrate sterile technique, and perform venipuncture.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
