Nuclear Medicine Technologist PRN

Role Overview: The Nuclear Medicine technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring patient safety and quality results. They independently operate equipment, set up imaging studies, and position patients appropriately.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Adjust techniques for optimal image quality and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and functionality according to infection control policies.
  • Verify clinician orders, gather patient history, and assess contraindications.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely, monitor patient condition, and respond to emergencies.
  • Ensure proper patient identification, privacy, dignity, and comfort during procedures.
  • Organize workflow, follow physician instructions, and utilize critical thinking.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families, explaining procedures to reduce anxiety.
  • Complete accurate documentation and participate in departmental training.
  • Produce acceptable images, ensure equipment calibration, and transmit studies promptly.
  • Assist with patient transport, supplies restocking, and support departmental operations.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and take on additional duties as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associates in Radiologic Technology.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience; nuclear medicine experience preferred.
  • Certifications: ARRT Nuclear Technology or Certified Nuclear Medicine Tech; BLS certification.
  • Ability to operate nuclear medicine equipment, demonstrate sterile technique, and perform venipuncture.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
