Role Overview: The RN Resident is a recent graduate participating in a 12-month Nurse Residency Program designed to support a successful transition into professional nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care in collaboration with an interprofessional team.
- Perform the nursing process—including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—using evidence-based practice and critical thinking.
- Partner with patients and families, respecting cultural diversity, and ensuring patient-centered care.
- Coordinate safe care delivery, document accurately, and promote respectful interdisciplinary communication.
- Support performance improvement activities, participate in research, and uphold organizational policies and standards.
- Serve as a preceptor or mentor to other nurses and students, modeling professional nursing practice.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, competency assessments, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Diploma or Bachelor’s degree).
- Current RN license (single state or multi-state compact) and BLS certification.
- Less than one year of RN experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and clinical systems like Epic.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating critical thinking and time management.
Additional Requirements: Commitment to practicing according to the Georgia Nurse Practice Act, Standards of Practice, and ANA Code of Ethics, with a focus on safety, quality, and patient advocacy. Must possess excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude to thrive in team-based care.
