Role Overview: Performs clinical laboratory testing under supervision, ensuring accuracy and quality assurance. Maintains equipment, records, and adheres to protocols, with potential supervisory and teaching responsibilities within the laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate patient and specimen identification, and maintain low error rates in testing and reporting.
- Document investigations and interpret quality assurance trends.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, ensuring timely and precise reporting of data.
- Analyze, investigate, and interpret lab data, correlating findings with clinical information.
- Monitor and document test statuses, communicate findings effectively, and follow department procedures.
- Contribute to performance improvement initiatives, assist in method development, and support inspection readiness.
- Maintain current knowledge of policies, regulations, and safety standards; participate in educational activities and meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Medical Science; Master’s preferred.
- Certifications such as MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), or equivalent required upon hire.
- Minimum one year laboratory experience preferred.
- Proficiency in computer/data entry, with skills in Excel, Word, and basic computer operations; experience with Epic and 3M preferred.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with healthcare team members.
