Job Summary
Performs and reports clearly defined laboratory procedures to support optimal patient outcomes, utilizing laboratory skills. Responsible for assigned shifts, with potential for overtime and callbacks, and performs additional duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Receives, identifies, prioritizes, and organizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely testing.
- Performs laboratory procedures and reports results.
- Maintains quality control, calibrates instruments, conducts proficiency testing, routine maintenance, and manages inventory, updating QC records in the system.
- Ensures positive patient identification to minimize errors and adverse outcomes.
- Supports ongoing learning, trains new staff, and provides backup support when needed.
- Completes assigned goals effectively.
Experience
- Minimum: 2 years as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
- Preferred: Clinical laboratory experience.
Education
- Minimum: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent military training with certification.
Training
- Basic Life Support certification.
Skills and Licensure
- Basic computer literacy.
- Licensed or certified through ASCP, AMT, or equivalent, with preferred certification through ASCP.
