Role Overview:
The Medical Assistant supports clinical staff by performing routine procedures, assisting with exams, and managing patient flow. They prepare patients, measure vital signs, update electronic medical records (EMR), and ensure test results and medical information are accurate and accessible. The role involves greeting patients, providing patient education, reconciling medications, and performing point-of-care testing such as strep and urine tests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate efficient patient appointments and flow
- Escort and prepare patients for exams
- Assist clinicians with clinical procedures and tests
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date EMR documentation
- Keep patients informed of visit status
- Reconcile medications and set up refills
- Address minor patient concerns
- Perform waived point-of-care testing
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or Medical Assistant Certification
- Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and reagent handling
- Proficiency with computers, EMR systems, and office applications
- Experience in clinical or customer service settings preferred
