Med Surg RN (Full-Time, Night Shift)

Role Overview

This position involves providing direct patient care in a 34-bed Medical/Surgical unit within a critical access hospital. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, emphasizing patient and family-centered approaches. The nurse will develop and document individualized care plans, collaborate with the healthcare team, and promote safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Key duties also involve patient education on managing illnesses, post-treatment care, and medication administration, considering patients’ cultural, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Current RN license required.
  • No prior experience necessary; two years’ experience preferred.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment with alertness and professionalism.

Key Duties

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care, including patient assessments and care planning.
  • Educate patients and families on health management and post-discharge needs.
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
