The Licensed Mental Health Professional will be a key member of an innovative Safe Options Support (SOS) team, providing comprehensive care to street homeless or subway-dwelling individuals in the community.
The multidisciplinary team includes a leader, clinicians, care managers, and peer specialists, utilizing the evidence-based Critical Time Intervention model. Responsibilities involve street outreach, coordinating needs pre- and post-housing, enhancing daily living skills, offering supportive counseling, and advocating against discrimination and healthcare disparities.
This role emphasizes member choice, harm reduction, non-coercion, and person-centered care. The team supports participants for several months after housing placement to promote stability and independence. Fieldwork, flexible hours, and on-call duties are required.
Ideal candidates hold a master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, nursing, or psychology, with licensure or plans to obtain it. Experience with homeless populations is preferred. Travel across three counties may be necessary, and relocation to Norwich, NY, is required before starting.
