Interventional Radiology Technologist

Role Overview: Performs or assists in cardiac, neuro, body, and vascular-interventional procedures, ensuring patient safety and adherence to regulations. Prepares, administers, and documents medications and radiation activities, and operates diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain correct orders, properly identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles.
  • Administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
  • Evaluate images for quality, proper positioning, and ensure data storage and transfer.
  • Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
  • Assist or perform diagnostic, fluoroscopic, and interventional procedures.
  • Maintain intra-arterial access and monitor during procedures.
  • Operate and perform quality control on monitoring devices and equipment.
  • Initiate ACLS protocols when necessary and practice sterile techniques.
  • Record hemodynamic data, perform manual hemostasis, and participate in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications & Skills: Certified by ARRT-R with advanced certification in ARRT-VI, CI, or CV for radiology; or graduate from an accredited cardiovascular technology program with ARRT and RCIS certifications. ACLS certification required within six months. Proficiency in all assigned duties, commitment to safety, and collaborative attitude are essential.
