Role Overview: The occupational therapist assesses, plans, and implements rehabilitative programs to restore or improve patients’ daily activities, mobility, cognition, strength, coordination, and range of motion. Services are provided across the continuum, focusing on quality, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Treatment Planning & Care: Implements treatment plans, selects appropriate activities, revises goals with patient/family input, provides education, discharge instructions, and referrals.
- Patient Assessment: Collaborates with physicians to establish and evaluate treatment programs, goals, discharge plans, and ensures patient/family involvement.
- Documentation: Maintains accurate records of evaluations, treatment sessions, education, and discharge information per departmental protocols.
- Professional & Customer Service: Upholds ethical standards, maintains confidentiality, demonstrates effective communication, fosters teamwork, and applies customer service principles to enhance patient experiences.
- Professional Development: Participates in ongoing education, completes required competencies, and mentors new staff.
Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, valid OT license, BLS certification, effective communication skills, customer-oriented approach, teamwork, and basic computer proficiency.
