Role Overview:
The Health Care Technician (HCT) supports licensed nursing staff under RN supervision, providing personal care, hygiene assistance, and facilitating communication among patients, staff, visitors, and departments. They serve as a public relations liaison and perform various duties to ensure smooth unit operations.
Responsibilities:
Assist with maintaining supplies, cleaning equipment, and documenting patient data. Demonstrate competency in skills such as vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and intake/output measurement. Support activities of daily living, prepare patients for transport, and provide direct patient care, including vital signs, specimen collection, hygiene, feeding, and room tidying. Remove lines and catheters as needed, serve as a bedside sitter, and monitor patients via Video Remote Sitter systems, troubleshooting when necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
H.S. Diploma/GED required; certification in BLS within 30 days; at least one semester of nursing clinical experience; recent CNA experience or completion of CNA coursework; relevant military medical training. Skills include psychomotor competency, attention to safety, and effective communication.
