Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes, performing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures to aid in diagnosis. They independently execute or assist licensed practitioners, ensuring accurate imaging, patient identification, and preparation while adhering to safety protocols and the ALARA principle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, verify patient identity, and document clinical history with confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and ensure patient safety.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access under supervision.
- Evaluate images for quality, proper positioning, and proper data storage or transfer.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare team members.
- Assist practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including those outside radiology settings.
Qualifications & Skills: Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; ARRT-R registry within six months for new graduates; ability to perform diagnostic procedures; knowledge of radiation safety and patient care; strong attention to detail and communication skills.
