Role Summary: Radiologic Technologists administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes, performing a wide range of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. They independently execute or assist licensed practitioners, ensuring proper patient identification, preparation, and adherence to safety protocols based on ALARA principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, verify patient identity, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and maximize patient safety.
- Prepare and/or administer medications via vascular access under practitioner’s prescription.
- Assess images for proper positioning, quality, and ensure data transfer or storage.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including those outside the Radiology Department.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months.
- Applicants hired after a specified date must complete steps for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.
