Role Overview
Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists are responsible for performing diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging procedures involving ionizing radiation.
They independently conduct or assist with computed tomography and molecular imaging, ensuring accurate data acquisition for diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain correct patient identification, prepare patients, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Use appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and ensure patient safety following ALARA principles.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed, and evaluate images for quality and proper positioning.
- Assist licensed practitioners with interventional procedures and support the education of students and healthcare staff.
- Ensure proper data storage, transfer, and post-processing of imaging data.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certification by ARRT or NMTCB required upon hire; new graduates must achieve certification before starting.
- Completion of a specialized radiologic technology program; a bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Ability to perform and evaluate imaging procedures, with a focus on patient safety and technical accuracy.
